Volunteer Work:

Finance Coordinator (Treasurer) Metro Toronto Ontario Government Employees United Way Campaign for two successive years. During this period I designed a statement of Policies and Objectives, and defined a financial collection system and management structure for the campaign which involved all thirty-two Ministries covering 40,000 employees.. This was eventually incorporated into the official manual United Way Campaigns. Was invited, but declined the request to serve as Assistant Chairman of the campaign.

 

 

Review and Consulting Assignments and Accomplishments:

  • 2001 Researched and produced study on possibilities for Efiling for the Election Finances Office, Ontario
  • 1998 Before leaving Legislative Assembly of Ontarioprovided a complete review of the Finance Branch structure, manpower requirements, systems upgrade requirements, and future focus for branch, including recommendations for rewriting existing AS400 systems rather than acquiring new costly packages.
  • 1985 Designed and presented a course on nonprofit association accounting, given to some 100 field staff.
  • 1985 Material involvement in a reorganisation study of the Farm Products Marketing Branch, Agriculture and Food. Included making the recommendation that the Farm Products Marketing Board should have representation from the Consumer side as well as the producers and growers. This was adopted by the then Minister of Agriculture and Food.
  • 1984 Head Auditor for the Ontario Development Corporation (financial, management, operational and compliance audits of economic development grants, loans, defaults and collections)
  • 1984 Operational reviews of the Kemptville Agricultural College, the Alfred Agricultural College, The Canadian Egg Marketing Agency.
  • 1982 Represented the Audit Branch on Computer System Design Committee and Special Project Accounting Task Force, Ontario Land Corporation.
  • 1978 Investigated an internal fraud, and testified in court as a professional witness on behalf of the Ministry of Housing.
  • 1977 Designed and implemented the first standard audit Program for Ontario Housing Authorities.
  • 1975 Designed and conducted a major review of various complaints regarding the construction of HOME properties.
